Learn about Poetry and Rhyming

Poetry and Rhyming isn't for everyone.

People have been writing poetry with rhyming and without, but what does rhyming do for the piece and is it really needed?

Rhyming adds flow to many pieces and gives it an easier read for the reader but rhyming can also hinder how the poem actually feels. What I'm trying to say is not all the best words and descriptions are chosen do to the limitations caused by trying to find a word that rhymes.

Now a poem without rhyming has many opportunities to be described and in essence the descriptions are usually more thought about and feeling is heightened. No the poem will not have as good a flow when read a loud but then when it comes down to it you ll see it is better to have more feeling within the words.

Readers who are less educated, those who rarely ever read tend to find that rhyming is better for them. Those who are highly educated look for a more deeper read that may have several different views or may be more thought provoking or challenging. These poems are usually well written and thought about and some writers often take hours, days or even weeks to write these type of poems.

Poetry and Writing Foundation Importance

Why is it so important to find one place to call home for my writing?

We all think that the more places we post are poems and stories the more likely we will be found and discovered. In some cases that would be true but the Internet looks at duplicate content. With this I mean the search engines that would normally find you will avoid you and you ll lose placement due to multiple copies. Its kind of like spamming and the search engines don't like that at all.

So find one site to write at that you call home. All your writing will be kept here which is your writing foundation. It will also act as a backup of your poems that are on your computer to make sure you never lose your works, poems or stories.

That will give you residence and a point to build from. After you have settled in your new home then you can worry about pointing traffic back to your home and creating readers from other blog sites. When you advertise this way you will make the search engines happier and they will start to see you as something that adds to the net instead of looked at as junk mail.

I will be talking in articles that will be coming soon about how to promote, where to promote and what to promote. Believe it or not if your passion is strong enough you can make money from your writing. It wont happen over night but it will happen if you are interested and write articles, stories and poems often that are interesting and enjoyable to read.

Home for me is POETRYSCRIBER. I created it so I could freely blog, write, and create. It then grew so now other people create their works and write there too. Its free and is an excellent base and foundation to call home.

Find a site for your Poetry and Stories

So now that your poetry addiction is growing and your feeling confident about the way you write, its time to share it with your friends, family, and other readers and writers who may appreciate and enjoy what you have written.

Poetry is Art and sometimes its good and sometimes its bad. The only way any Artist can find out for sure is definitely not by family, friend or ones self judgement. Strangers and other writers will give you more of an honest opinion and will help guide you to improve your writing drastically.

So your probably thinking, "OK where would that be I'm new to this kind of thing". My suggestion is to go to PoetryScriber which is a site that is created for the writers and readers. From poems to story telling to just blogging around this site will offer you the freedom of expression without deleting or editing what you have written. Freedom of Speech is what they promote and the site is ever increasing and offering tools to make writing easier.

Poetryscriber is a place you can call home and an excellent base or platform to get your poems on the Internet and in view. So join and post your poems and then start checking out other readers and writers scribes. Remember the more you read and comment on the better you will get in writing your own poetry.

Once you have used the site and have posted poems and talked with other artists you will find the addiction of creation an everyday need and you will hunger for it. With this new found hunger a reader base will develop and friendships will be grown. "What a wonderful Hobby to have instead of watching TV"!

My First Published Poem

It is wonderful to finally write a poem your proud of. You created a story or instilled feelings and emotions into words that is now entertaining to read. You probably read it aloud but only in the comforts of your room or somewhere where you were alone.

Writing poetry can become addictive and the first fan of your poem is obviously going to be yourself. Because of whats in your mind when you read it you will automatically have feelings and visions of what your words are saying. "The question is", can you put your feet in the readers shoes and understand what the words are saying. Will the poem you wrote aid your reader to share the same vivid pictures and emotions that it does for you? This will take some practice and allot of adjectives to help them to get on your level with it.

There are many different styles of poetry but in this article were going to cover just the very basic that people tend to write starting out.
1)
Rhyming- The one thing about rhyming is it tends to be how everyone starts out. In fact allot of people don't consider poems that don't rhyme poetry. Rhyming is very hard when it comes to projecting to the reader, do to how hard it maybe to find the proper word to rhyme with.

In many cases people/writers/poets that rhyme wind up compromising the feelings and imagination and stimulation for choosing the wrong words. Yes they have a flow but then they lose the vivid picture or feelings that it was suppose to create to begin with.

A good poet who has read many poems will be able to see this right away and can change lines and sentences on the fly or in many cases delete whole sections of his or her poem just to save the over all poem. Try using a Rhyming Dictionary if you prefer to write in rhyme and you will find that it will ease the burden in discovering the proper word or rhyme to finish your scribe.

2)
Descriptive Poetry- This is just poetry without rhyme which rarely reads out like a rap but can have such great emotional feeling due to it being based on content. Each line of poetry has to be very descriptive to keep the reader hungry for the next.

Filled with adjectives of feelings and vast amounts of descriptions to allow the reader to become one with the poem is its over all goal. Some people tend to use words that are rarely used in everyday communication which sometimes takes away from the reader being able to enjoy the scribe. Some instances it is the very nature of the many descriptive words when used properly that makes the poem that much better to read.

For readers and writers it is important to grow with your vocabulary. An example of something you may relate to is your diet. If you Cook the same recipes every night sooner or later it just becomes dinner instead of something that use to, "Taste Great". But if you use some different spices, garnish it and add a different side all of the sudden it has a new look, a new taste, and now wanted by more people.

So add in some new words but use them correctly. Keep a dictionary close by along with a thesaurus and you will find that adding spice to your poems will make your poetry hungered for and hopefully gobbled up by your readers.

How to Get your Work Read,Poetry,Poets and Writers

The first time you've written a poem it is usually for your self or just something you wanted to get out or off your chest. Maybe it was for someone you fell in love with or maybe for someone you were leaving.

Well that one poem,Short story or even blog sparked the writer in you and you want to share all the magnificent things you have written or created. There is only one problem, "Where to put your poem and how to get people to read your poetry"?

Step 1)
Write your poem, short story or article and make sure you spell check and proof read your work. So often people misspell as I'm sure I have done so many times and then posted it. Spelling matters and the way a document is written matters. Not only does a poem or story have to be interesting to you it has to be interesting to your readers and your ever growing fan club.

Step 2)
Find a site such as WWW.POETRYSCRIBER.COM that allows for freedom of expression and Freedom of Speech. There are sites out there that like to control the content on their sites and can sometimes delete the wonderful scribe you have pulled out of your head and so tediously created. "Zap", its gone and there is no getting it back. When you Join a group such as Poetryscriber you will be among many writers who have the same interests in writing as you do so you can expect an instant audience.

Step 3)
Calling a site home for your work gives you an opportunity to back up and store your work so you never have to worry about losing what you have created. If your home computer crashes you can easily retrieve your work from your poetry site and bring it back to your computer. Never trust 1 site not even your home computer, that's why you have to keep a backup. It took along time to create your Art so take a little time to protect it.

Step 4)
"Get Involved"! The more you read fellow poets scribes and short stories the more they will read yours. If the site you write at allows see if you can become a weekly columnist or editor to help the site out and draw even more attention to your writing. Those who get involved get noticed and are appreciated. The rewards for thinking of others will pay ten fold back with others thinking of you.

Step 5)
"Make Friends"! When you make friends then your audience grows and so does the readership and the guidance. Your work will be critiqued the way it should be instead of the typical one liner such as, "good poem". Friends will help you anchor your writing to one place which you will grow at. As long as your talking to one another and going to the site each day your presence will continue to blossom.

Step 6)
Promote your new poetry home on Myspace,Yahoo 360,Reviewme,Blogger and etc..Try posting news about the site you write at and what you love about it. Put partial poems up and create links to where your poetry resides. If you don't know how to do this then ask at your poetry site and I'm sure they will help you. Be patient learning to do this takes a little time and patience.

Step 7)
Keep it fun! Always enjoy what your doing and look at it as a challenge. Some things maybe difficult but when you over come them you will grow with the experience. Your this far because you enjoy writing so make sure you at least write 1 poem a day to a poem a week. Create from your heart and soul and make the reader feel what you feel. When they comment on your works negatively or positively thank them. "It is better to be read then to not be read at all"! That's how you learn to write better so take your readers seriously and again have fun with it...
